Modular construction offers many advantages
to conventional stick-built homes. Some key ones are:

WHY CHOOSE MODULAR CONSTRUCTION
The key advantages of building a modular home from Reliant Modular Home Builders are time and money
When people usually think of modular homes, many think of them
as boxy, simple or traditional-style houses. Few people know the
strides modular home construction has made over the years. Today,
some of the largest, most gracious homes are modular-built.
There are many advantages to this type of construction.
The most important
being that construction time is cut down substantially. By traditional
construction it will generally take a minimum of a year to complete
a construction project. Modular homes can be completed in three
months depending on the square footage and the architectural design
of the house. The modular company can set the house in a month with
finishing touches done by a local builder in two to five months.
Because the weather doesn't have any effect on construction productivity,
the work can be continued with no lost days because of snow, rain,
or extremely cold weather.
Modular homes are stronger
A modular home is built stronger than a standard home because it
has to be able to travel to the sites and be lifted by crane onto
a foundation. Modular homes are inspected by an independent third-party
inspection agency, and because they have to meet the requirements
of all the building codes of many states, counties and municipalities,
they will exceed the local building codes in the town your home
is being built, ensuring a safer, stronger home.
There are also financial advantages to consider, modular houses
generally costing 10 to 20 percent less than a comparable stick-built
home. This is due to the following:
- Building materials are purchased in bulk by our factory, thereby
reducing material costs.
- Cost of labor is less where our factory is located.
- State-of-the-art assembly construction reduce actual construction
time to a third of traditionally built homes. In addition, building
in a factory isn't affected by inclement weather, which would
halt construction of a stick-built home.
- Because the construction time is less, the cost of the construction
loan will also be less as well. You will save months of interest
with modular construction.
Modular homes are faster to build
Another big concern people have in dealing with building a new
house or remodeling their current house is the time it will take
to complete the project. In many areas, where land is not readily
available, it is common to demolish a house that is on the property
and build a whole new house either utilizing or eliminating the
foundation of the house.
In this type of situation, by using traditional frame construction,
a family might typically be out of their home for a year or two.
This could possibly mean a year or two of rental costs. Although
many people can afford the construction, they may not be able to
afford the cost of a rental and storage of their furnishings. Using
modular construction, they may be able to return to their home in
three to six months.
The modular
method of construction
The biggest difference is where the home is built, not
how. As much as 90% of the work is completed in a controlled factory
environment. We recommend that you take one of the frequently scheduled
tours of our plant and see first hand the impact it has in terms
of quality control and construction economies.
We use an assembly line process to complete sections of homes in
an exacting quality controlled environment. Our homes are built
by skilled carpenters, plumbers, and electricians, not assembly
line workers. The skills of these men and women are enhanced by
the ideal work environment and state-of-the-art equipment we employ.
We buy only the best lumber available, so there is no time wasted
pulling out poor lumber. Our lumber is kiln dried lumber to remove
excess moisture so the frame of the house won't suffer from shrinking
or twisting.
All the interior walls, floors and ceiling glued AND screwed or
nailed to achieve the construction strength our modular homes are
renown for.
It may be raining or snowing outside, but work goes merrily
along.
Traditional on-site construction is always affected by
weather. With days or rain or snow stopping work for days or weeks.
Modular construction inside a factory environment is not impacted
by weather, which means we can build your house any time of the
year.
